It’s old, very slow, & stinky. I really need it.

WRX STI swap it.
Like, just put the engine & AWD system in backwards with shortened driveshafts all around. It’ll be like a tiny Porsche 911 Turbo.

It’s even red like a ladybug.

Who cares if it’s slow! Think of the fun factor and the smiles per gallon! Plus, any speed will feel like like speed! DOOOO EEEEETTTT!
It looks in great shape, 2 strokes are usually pretty easy to get running after a long sit....no water to rust anything out on the inside. Parts are still available for them, and there are people who love these things. There’s a fellow on Youtube called 2StrokeTurbo somewhere in Oregan (I think?) that owns like 3 Subaru 360 vans of this vintage and another 2 or 3 cars like this one! I bet he would be more than happy to help via email! He’s got a LOT of info on them on his channel, check it out!
He’s also big into the Microcar scene, so I bet he knows where to get parts, etc as well! $5500 seems a steal for the shape it’s in!

The price is a little high for a non-runner, but it looks complete. If it were $3500 it’d be an ok deal.
They’re also not as slow as that. Consumer Reports road test is flawed, probably by a car with a faulty distributor advance, given their car was slow and burned up way more gas than normal. I had the same issue with my 360, until I figured out what was going on and freed up the distributor fly-weights. It had been topping out at around 50mph, and getting about 30mpg. After fixing the distributor it was doing about 65mph, and getting 45mpg.

If Subaru would make a modern car in this style, I’d buy one yesterday :P

Step 1: Buy it.
Step 2: Replace innards with a Chevy Volt battery pack and a pair of Warp 9 DC motors.
Step 3: Do smokey burnouts.
Step 4: Buy new tires.
Step 5: Go to step 3.

Had a 1965 MG Midget as a daily a while back, can confirm. Slow cars feel faster.

They’re designed to handle high RPMs all the time too!

I think the decimal is in the wrong place and should read 375 seconds.

I’ve rebuilt a few 2 stroke snowmobile engines(specifically Suzuki 440cc twins) , so I’m not new to working on 2 strokes. I’ll gladly work on a 2 stroke, but won’t touch my cars engine.
